I never copied the entire ~/ at once. I had the old Jaunty hard drive in an Ultrabay adapter for my Thinkpad so I could copy things as I wanted, but I typically moved configs over one at a time. It is now evening and I am concluding a very frustrating day with OpenSuse 11.1. On my page-long list of applications to install I worked on: Adobe Reader 9.2. Adobe Flash Okular OOo 3.1.1.4 Scribus 1.3.5.1 Sylpheed Opera K3b VLC I succeeded in installing VLC, K3b, Opera and Flash. And with Dale's help I got Claws Mail working as a substitute for Sylpheed. However, after installing K3b I tried to launch it and got an error message. I also tried from the command line and it failed again (no such file or command). After rebooting it worked. And that is not the only app that fails to work until you reboot - most of them do. Sounds like Windows 3.0. I got Okular installed, but it crashes as soon as you try to open a PDF in it. It took me two hours to get Scribus 1.3.5.1 installed, and it crashes on launch. I still cannot figure out how to get Adobe Reader 9.2 or OOo 3.1.1.4 installed. I tried to edit the Applications menu, but the menu editor won't let me drag and drop, and the Add New, Delete, Up and Down arrows and the whole panel on the right are missing. That is the sum total that I accomplished in seven hours at the keyboard today. Someone please tell my why this PoS deserves more of my time. Oh wait, the Scribus developers love OpenSuse. I think I'm going to pour myself a Canadian and quietly pull my blond hair out. _______________________________________________ PLUG mailing list [email protected] http://lists.pdxlinux.org/mailman/listinfo/plug
