Dale, Hadn't thought of that, only Esc and the 12 function keys. Turns out that Bill's suggestion of F2 at the logo screen works. The system is set to boot first from the optical drive, then the hard drive. But it won't, even though the optical drive holds the Slackware-14.1/x86_64 distribution disk. If I correctly understand how it _should_ work, it would boot from that disk if there was no hard drive installed or the kernal module management tool was missing (the case here).
