It does. I tested the system was just last sunday. I had kept my
machine running for 17 days, just rebooting into WinSE and Linux
alternatively, but never did I shut down the cable modem.
To find out, I reported that I had ftp problems at around 10 pm
sunday. The techie at the other end went through a whole bunch of
questions and scenarios, (of course there was nothing wrong with it),
until he decided to ask for my modem serial number. I could hear the
surprise in his voice when he asked if I had kept it running for 16
days already. He then told me to reboot and to power down the modem
as well.

Yes they do. The last two addresses I had last month were:
202.8.232.103 and 202.8.230.198

Frankly, I also think it sucks. I have plans to set this unit up for
dialin. It's just such a waste of bandwidth while I'm at work. I'm
just waiting for new hardware to arrive from the us.

Just a note, yesterday, a couple of Destiny guys came and checked my
unit out. I was surprised. It was just that the floods kept me in. If
they had arrived and I wasn't there, I had given our apartment owner
permission to let them in. It's in the Destiny contract for them to
be free to check you out any time. I think the 17 day uptime got
their attention.
