yup. for Ateneo, ask the Math teachers first coz they're the first ones to
break you. then the others.
As a student in Ateneo, I could also tell you that JR is right about those
math and science backgrounds + also a good command of the English language
and now, even Filipino.
A good command in Math would definitely be very advantageous as all
students in Ateneo go through the Math Department and they are the first
ones to give the acid test and kick students out if need be.....next will
be the sciences (you also need math in these)....depends on the
concentration the student will enter....if he is into physics, then...he
gotta have love for it. same for chemistry and other sciences. Lastly, we
cannot just leave the fact the the student will be good in the sciences
and forget his language skills. All students in Ateneo go through the
English Dept. and Filipino Dept. but most importantly, they do not just
cease the use of the language after 2 years of English and Filipino since
they are also gonna use it in other subjects in higher years, such as
Philosophy, Theology, Political Science, Sociology and Anthropology,
Psychology, Economics, History, etc, etc. We have all these subjects
because we have a core curriculum whose aim is to develop well-rounded
students.
As a summary, it is good to have good background on CS or some other
things BUT do not forget about the others as they are equally important
and could become a downfall instead even if the student is brilliant when
it comes to CS or whatever major he's into.
hope this helps.
:)
btw, what school is this? if you don't mind?
