Well, Orly, I've gone through much the same thing too (I had to take the
same course twice myself :-P ), but I think that it has to do with the
fact that our courses are supposed to be 'engineering' courses, and the
college *requires* for some reason that all engineering students take
them. It's a political issue: the powers that be believe that
overspecialization is a Bad Thing(tm). Our only consolation is that these
other engineering courses also do take electrical engineering service
courses, which they like probably about as much as we liked ES 11...

The major courses do become math-intensive too, at least some of them.
Do you remember taking linear systems and probability? Computer science is
just as mathematically-inclined as well, if not more so.
