#while we're on the topic, is there a counterpart for COM for linux? i know
#there's CORBA on UNIX, but its kind of complicated and unwieldy... i

FYI COM the spec. is implementable in any programming language and
platform. As long as the arrangement of the v-table is correct (I forgot
the actual names, there are two types)

I've written a few COM components for Real Server for Solaris.. and I
think Real has a COM framework in Linux as well.

As long as you have a GUID, IUnknown, you can COM :) well, that's an
overly simplistic statement... (For more info on the innards of COM,
please peruse thru Don Box' COM Essentials)

stay cool..
