You could with ACLs (Access Control Lists). Check out
<http://acl.bestbits.at/> for more information. I do not know what the
status of ACL support with ext2 us, but for what it's worth, XFS on Linux
supports ACLs via EAs (Extended Attributes) and comes with utilities to
view and modify them.
