Which is why I've decided to use DocBook Slides edited with xemacs.
Oddly enough xemacs doesn't seem too bloated in comparison:

Gtk-xemacs 21.1.12 here.  And I always thought emacs was the king of
bloat!  Only ~7 megs! :)
