hi there jijo, dek, and all,

1. thanks for offering your help guys. one of the mailing list server's problem
is that its ip address doesn't resolve to a hostname (reverse lookup). a lot of
pending emails get stuck in the queue. like:

# mailq > mailq.2001-12-08
# grep "said: 450" mailq.2001-12-08 | head -n1
(host foo.bar.com.ph[12.34.56.78] said: 450 Client host rejected: cannot find
your hostname, [203.176.80.8])
# grep -c "said: 450" mailq.2001-12-08
252
# tail -n1 mailq.2001-12-08
-- 3371 Kbytes in 541 Requests.

we've already informed our provider a few days ago
(reverse dns for the mail.q-linux.com's ip address was not delegated to us).

2. sorry, i still haven't gotten around to install mrtg on the mailing list
server.

3. the mailing list server is scheduled for another round of upgrades,
harddisk and memory (i think), hopefully before christmas.

4. lastly, i agree, having plug's own co-located all-purpose server would be
cool. maybe we could put up a zope based plug site, and then let everyone post
articles and stuff, have it host a more handsome faq engine, have automatically
updated mirrors of our favorite distros, run a jabber/irc server, have our own
@linux.org.ph addresses,  etc.

oh, i know! maybe we could ask ibm for a donation?
and i hope boss migz' offer for a co-location space still stands =)
