Yes, and apologies if I sounded ill-tempered. It's pretty likely that
we've been slightly miscommunicating. (I was working yesterday from
just after 6 AM to about 9:30 PM, so I was very tired.[1])

As I was saying, I personally also prefer discussion-type mailing lists,
but thought you were, at least by implication, suggesting that the Sun
Managers variety were for some reason unworkable. (In fact, if the
membership wants that sort, they work quite well.) But, if you weren't
trying to suggest that, my apologies.

If you honestly think, as you're saying, that such a list type tends in
any way to produce a list with questions but not answers, please examine
the leading instances of such lists, and you'll see that it's not so.

And I certainly wouldn't dream of objecting to expression of views on
how lists should operate. I just urge distinguishing between where one
is analysing observations about them and where one switches to advocacy
on what are claimed to be moral grounds. Those are separate
discussions.

People mixing up the two tends to make me uneasy, even when I share the
speaker's preferences. (For my sins, I'm probably going to now find
examples of my doing the exact same thing. ;-> Oh well.)
