Thanks. I also found out a good editor in my own backyard-- it's Kate, KDE's text editor. At first look, it seems to be able to do what nedit does. And it looks better since it's integrated with the KDE desktop. COOL! And I thought I was the only loser using pico (which isn't even distributed on it's own: it's part of the pine package on RedHat). Maybe I am (hehe), but bottom line is I get things done with it. So far, pico is enough for me for console apps; when it comes to bigger and more complex codes, though, I settle for the GUIs.
