Oh, I have no objection to your changing what you said to claim something somewhat different. Feel free. However, you didn't demonstrate that, either. All you've shown is that Trolltech and MySQL AB understand and use strategic licensing for a couple of products. Your claimed and rather obviously overbroad conclusion is a non-sequitur from that. > Of course I was referring to the GPL license 'coz... Oh! Pity you didn't say that. Perhaps you won't mind being specific in the future. > You're going to give a lecture on licensing and you aren't even > aware of RMS' stand on dual licensing? Naturally, as you're well aware, I've said nothing of the sort. I've said I'm not going to look it up for you. However, I _did_ provide you with an _example_ of such a stand, one that directly contradicted your erroneous claim about Mr. Stallman. Now, most of us would have responded to that by at least _thinking_ (if not saying) "Gee, I guess I'm not very well informed about this subject after all. Maybe I should extract my foot from my mouth and study the subject some more." By contrast, you didn't even really react at all, other than to shift almost purely to argumentum ad hominem, instead. > No you didn't??? You just said I contradicted myself for saying > that GPL is extremely viral ostensibly because MPL happens to > be "classic copyleft". I NEVER said copyleft was the reason GPL > was viral. Explain to me, please, how the GNU GPL could be considered "viral" other than through its copyleft mechanism. Thanks. > Please... acquire some common sense. What I meant is that > Stallman has, for the longest time, staunchly discouraged > people from adopting O.S. licenses other than the GPL using > language that is virtually categorical in its dismissal > of their value.... Oh, so you're saying Mr. Stallman does _not_ "curtail people's freedom to believe in something other than what [Stallman preaches]". I see. Thank you for clearing that up. -- Cheers, "I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate Rick Moen those who do.
