Because there's a market out there, mainly those who'd like to get an SMS application up and running in the least time possible and don't have the in-house expertise to do so. Also, I suspect those companies see some value, either in terms of actual revenue or of savings, in an SMS application. As an aside, I guess those who are so inclined can take on the headaches of those looking at SMS applications, and charge big-time for a kannel-based system.
