Paolo Falcone's post.

Completely untrue. You've been ignoring what I've been saying all along.
Not the code, but the _rights granted by the license_ are only obtainable
by paying money. It is the [rights granted by the] license that is the
subject of commerce, not the product itself. I've emphasized this at least
3 times already. A GPL'ed product can be sold commercially but that does
not make the GPL license itself a 'commercial' one in any but the loosest
sense. However, it is very clear that the alternative licensing scheme
for MySQL is commercial because you have to pay for the privileges it
grants you. Such is most certainly NOT the case for a GPL license whose
privileges are _guaranteed_ to be freely available to anyone upon
redistribution.

I suppose it becomes a matter of usage, not whether the idea itself is
valid or not. You view the term 'commercial license' only in terms of
'license to engage in commerce', while MySQL AB uses it in the sense of
the license itself (or rights granted thereof) being the subject of
commerce'[1].

[1] which is not strictly inapplicable to the GPL, but something which
I can't imagine as being practical in any real-world situation.
