In addition, I believe that the task of open source advocates in the Philippines is more like "Propagate the users, not the distros" at the time being. What would you do with a new distro when you have no people to use it? The idea of having Bayanihan Linux is to encourage newbies to switch and I believe that it's working. For the technically inclined people, they won't be impressed with the product. But I am impressed with the move that the BL team did. I should say, I think they are impressing the newbies. :)
The only thing I can think of right now (to make Bayanihan more Pinoy-style) is to add a Filipino language support. And there's no need to create another distro just to include this addon.Nasa drawing board na ngayon yung next version the BL. If you have any suggestion, might as well tell them now so they can consider including them. Excited ako sa mga naririnig ko about the next version, hehe.
I'm not taking sides here and I'm not speaking for Bayanihan Linux. I just sharing my opinions as an open source advocate. (bow!)

I don't think this is an ego trip or something. I believe our friend wants to point out that we must begin to be innovators not just users
of technology.
Hmmm...creating a Linux distro from scratch doesn't mean you'll be reinventing everything. You can, of course, reuse other components available. You're crazy if you would implement everything from scratch...
that is reinventing the wheel.
I wouldn't have responded to your e-mail if you didn't drag the patriotism thing...
