And? Maybe you are aware that even if the server is located next door, it
may be possible that IP packets from you going to the server may travel
halfway around the world before arriving to the server?  Having a local
server is only feasible if you physically bring over disks or CDs to
upload to the server.  But then just how many of use use the sneakernet
these days?

All the more reason why we should not duplicate this already existing
services..
