Okay let's clear things up. Patriotism and Nationalism should NEVER be degraded in any way. Wrong use of such words are the ones that _should_ be corrected.
Patriotism and Nationalism means "love for country and the willingness to sacrifice for it".
So if you love your country, you must be willing sacrifice - that is you must be willing to swallow your ego and pride if it is for the good of your country.
The Japanese are known for their extreme patriotism/nationalism and that is the very reason they were able to swallow their individual pride and adapt western technology and improved it - for the good of their country. The Japanese's tunneling technology today (MEPCB) is actually an adapted and highly improved version of Anglo-German bentonite tunneling process. Same is true with many other Japanese technologies. We can now see where their economy is, and that could not have been achieved without patriotism/nationalism.
So I beg you people... please use those two words very carefully.
