Would it be safe to recommend a RHCE to maintain/fix a Slackware-based DBMS server (Firebird or MySQL) machine? My concern is that a RHCE might get confused due to the absence of RH-specific tools in a Slackware installation. If RH certification training mostly involves using RH-specific tools and not enough general Linux knowledge, then an RHCE will not necessarily be able to /properly/ maintain a system based on another distro.

I'm interested in people who have cross-distro maintenance 'battle
stories' (in a commercial setting) to tell.
