How is your wireless access point configured? Does it have some sort of
a "proxy arp" option setting? This will enable wireless interfaces that
connects to the access point be part of the wired network.

Also, can you tell us some details of your network (I'm assuming it's a
private network) like what IP address are you using, what IP address the
access point is using, what address are you pinging and pinging from,
things like that, so we could have a clear picture of the problem.
