Just like /etc/security/limits.conf, but far more sophisticated naturally. Like I said, unless bounds are set on the resource usage of a fork bomb, it will eventually consume everything and grind the system to a halt. > [OT] Just for fun, speaking of Agent smith, what if he forked himself too > much that the memory of the matrix run out of resources, what do you think > would happen to the matrix? maybe it would hang too, eh? or even crash... > :) (spoilers for those foo's who haven't seen Matrix Revolutions just yet :) I imagine that Smith, after his interaction with Neo, became the rough equivalent of a real fork bomb in the Matrix, and this was exactly what the Architect feared, and hence the deal with Neo. Yeah, I guess Agent Smith would have caused the entire Matrix to crash had he not been stopped, which would probably kill everyone connected to it, probably just after the genocide of Zion, resulting in the extinction of the human race, and of the machine race as well (which lives connected to the Matrix as a matter of course). -- Philippine Linux Users' Group (PLUG) Mailing List [EMAIL PROTECTED] (#PLUG @ irc.free.net.ph) Official Website: http://plug.linux.org.ph Searchable Archives: http://marc.free.net.ph .
