what soundcard? what error on alsamixer? have you tried using the OSS modules instead?
for your LILO problem, what letter in L-I-L-O do you see before the "6 6 6 6 6"?

ALSA modules are loaded but do not seem to work.... alsamixer returns an error value.... etc.
once alsamixer worked but no sound can be produced by
the gui---even after setting it up.
Me reinstall windows? Not likely, the only reason a
dual boot (winsows & GNU Linux) exists is because it
is a shared computer. besides our other computer does
not have windows... and still the same thing happend
--- it shuts down fine and when you reboot you get
lots of "6 6 6 6 6..." displayed, then hang. virus?
How? hehehe
It seems to happen at random --not after a fixed
time...
Thanks

Hi,
I just upgraded to Slackware 10.0 and I am experiencing some problems like KDE only having English language support even with kde
Actually, same here...My KDE (kmail) can't display Japanese font, but i am using thunderbird anyway so that's no big deal for me eventhough its working on earlier slackware and kde versions.
internationalization support, ALSA not working
with
the 2.4.27 kernel (the modules that came with
the
distro at least),
Not with me, I have no problems with sound on slackware even when it was using the OSS modules, until now with the ALSA modules. hotplug seems to detect most of the the soundcards that i am using. What do you mean ALSA is not working anyway? are the modules loaded? or the modules are loaded but you dont have any sounds? In Slackware, it is muted by default, so you have to unmute it using alsamixer (hit the 'M' key) and run alsactl store to save the volume setting on the next reboot.
and the occasional corruption of the MBR (I thought it was just coincidence but
thesame
thing happend on another computer a week or so
later
corruption of MBR? it looks like your windows is taking over the bootloader, are you sure you havent reinstalled your windows OS? (dual-boot) I havent experienced corrupted yet.
)......
Has anyone experienced the same or similar
problems?
