CODEC I think, I have to check the manual but it works
with kernel 2.6.7 though.

lspci to verify, but if its SIS, most likely its Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] Sound Controller which also uses snd-intel8x0 and
snd-ac97-codec as its modules.


Is this a fresh Slackware 10 install? stock kernel?


something about not being able to find sound device, etc.

what device? have you checked the permissions?


OSS, they work.... I can live with Sound driver
problems but Data Storage Integrity is another thing
all together.... :)

I did not pay much attention to how much of L I L O
was displayed, does that tell us something?
