  It's a plain text file.

I would recommend enabling DHCP at least for some small address range on
the router. At least that way, you will be able to obtain correct IP and
network config - then connect to the router when something like this
happens.

  No problems connecting when both router and laptop are on the 192.168.1.0
sub-net.
