It doesn't need to be up-to-date (I found an intro to linux from 2008) but needs to teach what tool to use for what type of file. I think this is distribution/DE agnostic. Tools like evince and mupdf work on any distro and desktop environment, don't they?
I'm looking for a document that does what the firefox browser does: specify what tool to use to open a file type. Of course, the tools available may vary from one host to another but can be expanded to provide choices to the user.
