I realize my sentence structure was a little complex. It was probably
easiest to understand with a background in basic computer science. So
let me try again.

He didn't and shouldn't create a new thread. His reply was part of a
larger conversation. Like most conversations, it drifted from one topic
to another. The natural drift of conversation is the whole point of
threading. Hijacking is when there is no common history.
