There are a lot of non-technical ways to destroy data besides
seven-pass zero write.
* Drill to the platters
* Sledgehammer
* Toss in a fire
* Toss in a deep river/lake
* Thermite

I personally doubt that anyone suspecting getting caught for child
pornography would care about keeping their hardware functional.
