It was in the LMS Control Panel, in the Alerts section that I noticed it. It said something like "we have noticed that you are running a Proxy Server..." You're right that you can't control it there, so I went to LMS Settings - Advanced - Network, and removed the entries that were there. I'll try and remember to stop LMS while I'm running the VPN in future - in any event, if it happens again I now know what to do.
