'Tis ever the way when you try provide evidence of such things. I did
have those 2 tracks looping, with the LMS time-bar moving back and fro -
honest!  I've now re-tested those same tracks, many times, and cannot
get it to put a foot wrong.  So whatever it was, it was transient.  For
all I know the music server, or the Marantz, was just having a bad
day......  

If I see or hear anything else peculiar I'll let you know, but whether
I'll have the evidence is another matter :)

Alternatively Minimserver & Upplay to same & to upmpdcli/mpd PC
renderers.  
Squeezelite to Meridian USB Explorer DAC to PC speakers/headphones.  
Wireless Xubuntu 17.10 laptop firefox/upplay or Android 'phone with
Squeeze-Commander/BubbleUPnP controls LMS/Minimserver.
