Forgive me, but I want to be sure I understand correctly.  I currently
have a MAC-specific entry for my M1 in custom-convert.conf.  Are you
saying I can delete that and replace with the new encode option?

Squeezelite to Meridian USB Explorer DAC to PC speakers/headphones.  
Wireless Xubuntu 17.10 laptop firefox/upplay or Android 'phone with
Squeeze-Commander/BubbleUPnP controls LMS/Minimserver.
