I think the problem is the addition of ID3 metadata in the MPEG frames -
this is part of the audio in each chunk.  The downloaded audio chunk
(with ID3) plays OK with ffmpeg and mplayer so I'm not wholly certain.

mplayer is not working well with this stream this morning lots of breaks
so I don't think it is a good solution - it keeps putting out messages
something like "skipping 73 bytes of ID3"

I have tried getting mplayer working with LMS on Windows - but there is
some issues I can't spot. Strange as it used to work and took the conf
file from a old working plugin which used it.

There is a possibility of modifying the BBCiPlayer plugin which
implement a limited version of HLS.
