Ok: so Ive connected the RasPi with Ethernet to the Mac. Plugged in the wireless dongle. Powered up the RasPi.
Then I used IP Scanner to get the IP of the RasPi - IP Scanner has a shortcut button to open any device in a browser window so I did that and it times out after searching the IP address in the address bar. Tried another browser. Same. So: the RasPi shows up on the Ethernet but the device wont open up in a browser window to configure it. It only did that when plugged into the router. I thought I could plug it straight into the Macs Ethernet port - it is seeing it after all. So Im stuck now!
