What "requirement"? Long-pressing on the repeat off, or DSTM, icons will
produce the DSTM options list.

As stated, you cannot simply turn DSTM on - you need to select an
option.

I'm happy with the proposed solution - as it always easily swithing
modes. DSTM settings are shon in player settings, so they are not hidden
- long press is just a short-cut. This brings Material in line with
other UIs.
