I had forgotten that LMS usually claims to be iTunes/4.7.1 In that case it looks like it is probably not a block against LMS. They might be blocking an old or specific versions of iTunes (if they check the version number) because they had seen problems in the long distant past.
Maybe identifying as LMS would be a good thing to do anyway (in the plugin not necessarily for LMS as a whole).
