I guess I will have to put this down to the ghost in the machine! Tried one last time:
1 Deleted all traces of SC (logs, caches, the works). 2 Reinstalled OS X from combo updater. 3 Fresh install of SC 7.0 & let it run the first scan. 4 Stopped SC and installed Album Review plugin. (The one and only plugin installed) 5 Started SC and tried to scan - no joy. 6 Stopped SC and uninstalled Album Review plugin. 7 Started SC and tried to scan - no problem. Heartily baffled, but now grudgingly accepting the fact that for whatever unknown reason I can't use either of these plugins as they somehow stop my SC from scanning.
