Thanks for the advice.

Ok, if #1 == yes, then what is the appropriate way to cite his
copyright in this work?

Adrian's final Feb. 2007 plugin was for Slimserver 6.5.1 and he hasn't
updated it since. His code weighed in at about 5k. My current version
weighs in at 82k (though a little less than half of that is an icon.png
file) so I guess I'm justified in any claim that I've added
significantly to the work.

In a case like this, is it enough to merely say "Adapted from
PowerCtrl.pm, copyright AdrianOnline.net, Feb. 2007." ??

Also, Adrian stated: "Initially modeled on Max Spicer's Max2.pm" in his
code. I don't mind citing Max in the least. But do I need to check HIS
code to see who he cites? Is it really necessary to enshrine code
"begats" going back to Adam and Eve?

And, if #2 == no, then I guess I'll adopt a "what, me worry?" attitude
towards Joerg & Erland's comments that releasing a plugin under the GPL
is potentially a misuse of the license.

I notice that you include text files of both the GPL version 2 and LGPL
ver 2.1 with PowerCenter. PowerCenter's Plugin.pm cites the GPL in it's
comment header. Which part of PowerCenter uses the LGPL? (And why?)
