I was wondering about upgrades, too. You could do that with another
checkbox column, but I think it would be better to list available
upgrades separately from (above/before) the full list of available
extensions -- chances are good that users would want to keep
up-to-date, but would seldom peruse the full list of extensions. Also
the description for updates might differ from the main table -- the
main table might pull from the installed plugin but the upgrade
description *should* come from the repo, in order for authors to do as
Erland suggested and publish details about what's changed within the
repo XML.

It'd be nice if the main page also highlighted the fact that upgrades
are available, much like the current "A new version of SqueezeCenter is
available..." message. Such a message could be brief and merely link to
the extension downloader page.
