I wonder if it is possible for SvrPowerControl to issue a shutdown
command to another computer, and if yes how do i proceed.
I'll explain a little more. I run a headless server with debian lenny.
I like to experiment with new versions of SC and other software and
tweaks. This results sometimes in screwing up my server and i have to
do a complete reinstall which is not funny.
So i decided to go for a virtual server. I installed vmware server and
made a virtual SC server inside the vmware server.
This works very nice, I can experiment all i want and if i don't like
it, i just go back to a previous snapshot. I can even run several
servers/operating systems at the same time on 1 machine.
But in order to save some energy i like the server to go down when not
in use.
SvrPowerControl only shuts down the virtual server to which it is
connected, but i would like it to shutdown the underlying vmware
server.
I can choose for the server and virtual server to have the same ip
address, or a different ip address, but i guess that for wake on lan to
work i should give them the same.
Any help?
