Happy New Year! I've posted a new version of SrvrPowerCtrl at the head of this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=48521
What's new: 20090101 New power control utility for Windows. This version introduces a new Windows utility: SCPowerTool.exe. This utility replaces psshutdown.exe as the method of shutting down/sus- pending/hibernating the server. SCPowerTool.exe also has some other features, including: ability to wake the server up at a specific time; ability to keep the server "alive" when it would otherwise slip back into standby. (Addresses the dreaded "Windows suspends again two minutes after WOL" problem.) Full C source code for SCPowerTool is included. Alarms: SrvrPowerCtrl now determines when the next SqueezeCenter alarm is due and will schedule the server to wake up at the appropriate time. On Linux systems, SrvrPowerCtrl uses a helper shell script to program the RTC to wakeup the system. On Windows, SrvrPowerCtrl uses SCPowerTool.exe to wake the system up from standby or hibernation. Alternately, SrvrPowerCtrl can use the WakeupOnStandBy utility available at www.dennisbabkin.com/wosb. Return from suspend: SrvrPowerCtrl now knows when the system has woken up from suspend or hibernation. On wakeup, SrvrPowerCtrl will (if set to do so) now drag back any players connected to SqueezeNetwork. Also, it will execute a configurable "on resume" command. On Windows systems, this command should be SCPowerTool.exe invoked in such a way as to keep the system "alive" for 20 - 40 minutes. Blocking: SrvrPowerCtrl actions can now be blocked through two new mechanisms: 1). on Linux systems, a block file at /var/lock/sc-block will prohibit SrvrPowerCtrl from taking any action. 2). If the idle or end-of-day monitors are active, new menu items appear allowing you to set a block via the remote or the SBC. Also, SrvrPowerCtrl now checks to see if any connected players are or need firmware updating and will block on this condition. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are lots of new features in this beta release..so I expect there may be a few problems as well. Please post with your experience.
