Yes of course I have several tracks underneath a single GROUPING tag. I use the GROUPING tag for tagging the work of classical pieces. For example, I have a multi disc album comprising Mozart's piano sonatas. Let's say on CD1 there are sonatas nos. 1 and 2 each comprising 3 movements and on CD2 there are sonatas nos. 3 and 4 each also comprising 3 movements like CD1: 1. Allegro (movement 1 of sonata 1) 2. Andante (movement 2 of sonata 1) 3. Presto (movement 3 of sonata 1) 4. Andante (movement 1 of sonata 2) 5. Adagio (movement 2 of sonata 2) 6. Presto con molto (movement 3 of sonata 2) CD2: 1. Allegro (movement 1 of sonata 3) 2. Andante (movement 2 of sonata 3) 3. Presto (movement 3 of sonata 3) 4. Andante (movement 1 of sonata 4) 5. Adagio (movement 2 of sonata 4) 6. Allegro(movement 3 of sonata 4) If both albums are tagged as "Mozart - Piano sonatas", CD1 has DISC=1 and CD1 has DISC=2 and the option "show multi disc albums as one album" is set, then on the Squeezebox only one entry is shown on the album browse level, namely "Mozart - Piano sonatas" (which is correct). On the next level (the GROUPING level) there should be four entries in the following order, namely "Piano Sonata No. 1", "Piano Sonata No. 2", "Piano Sonata No. 3" and "Piano Sonata No. 4" (since I tag the GROUPING tag with the name of the respective work). And finally on the track level the movements (=tracks) should be shown in the order DISC-TRACKNUM. If sorting is only by TRACKNUM the order would be 1. Allegro (movement 1 of sonata 1) 1. Allegro (movement 1 of sonata 3) 2. Andante (movement 2 of sonata 1) 2. Andante (movement 2 of sonata 3) 3. Presto (movement 3 of sonata 1) 3. Presto (movement 3 of sonata 3) 4. Andante (movement 1 of sonata 2) 4. Andante (movement 1 of sonata 4) 5. Adagio (movement 2 of sonata 2) 5. Adagio (movement 2 of sonata 4) 6. Presto con molto (movement 3 of sonata 2) 6. Allegro(movement 3 of sonata 4) which is obviously wrong. I hope this clarifies the problem. Using a GROUPINGSORT tag would be a pain since I had to define this tag for ALL my classical music (even for non multi disc albums) although only a few are multi disc albums. That's why I ask if I can amend the Mix Tag menu to use DISC-TRACKNUM even if I had to change the XML file manually. If that's not possible I have probably to tag all albums manually with separate album names (like "Mozart - Piano sonatas CD1", "Mozart - Piano sonatas CD2" ...). But sometimes there are multi disc albums on which one work bridges two of the CDs (like movements 1 and 2 are at the end of disc 1 and movement 3 is at the beginning of disc 2). For these cases the "show multi disc albums as one album" option would be better. -- dip ------------------------------------------------------------------------ dip's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=902 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=49483 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
