Thanks for the very informative reply, Thelastman. As you suggest, I think I will have to abandon the on board sound chip and go with a discrete sound card if I am to get the wave input plugin working. Like you, I have concluded that it is probably a Vista DRM issue that keeps the stereo mixer from acting as a recording device.
