First off, just wanted to say that many people seem to want to use a lower power, quite small NAS (Synology C407) to play music from, and having to install software on there to enable this seems a bit odd (i am definatley not a "pc always on" fan).
The Sonos product does this (reading files from network) and even if i had to buy a SB "sender" to attach to my network, I would rather do that have a PC on. So not sure why SB can't have network storage file based system... I am concerned about the NAS (and reason i would buy a seperate box if there was one) because of performance, ie my NAS only has 128M RAM and i use it for many other things, including streaming HD movies. So what i would like to do is install squeezecenter and then see how it works / performs. Is there any way to test this BEFORE i buy the duet. I understand i cannot test wifi etc, however can i test that the SC is working, and performing ok using a desktop app of some kind installed on my PC? -- wcndave ------------------------------------------------------------------------ wcndave's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=29445 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=62215 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
