Many people have this opinion, however i believe there are a LOT of
people out there like me who want PC-less music. having the fan noise
etc of a PC (even if in a cupboard) and the energy consumption is not
what i want to do.

My NAS uses < 20 watts in hibernation and about 27 in use, and it
TOTALLY silent. Now i can build a silent PC, however the effort etc is
quite high, and PC's go wrong, whereas linux based OS much much less so
etc... (obviously could build a linux server).

so noise + power + effort is too much.

what i think the "(wo)man on the street" wants is:

1. plug this low power silent small box into your network anywhere (in
a cupboard) and use it to safely store ALL your data on
2. plus this other box into any stereo and play all your music using
this cool handset with art and everything
3. plus this other box (even better the same one) into your TV and
watch your movies..

your average person will do this, and find it easy. I think this part
of the market is not being catered for, more technical people are
catered for, and the first company to provide an EASY and working
storage + media player solution for joe public has access to a market
100x bigger than the home server market

(in my opinion of course ;-))
