Regardless of the merits or popularity of these tweaks - I still think
that you should identify the specific issue in the TCP data stream. It
is only when the problem is properly understood that a proper fix can be
made.

For example, the TCP reset issue I keep mentioning (and it was an
mplayer issue with AlienBBC) - after demanding more info from users, I
found out it affected overwhelmingly Windows users and then after
further enquiries it was users who had tweaked registry or ran utilities
which would "improve web browsing/file download" or were on satellite
links. Then I was able to test the XP tweaks and their various undos.
>From these test I could reproduce the problem and I found that some undo
did not work and that only a Windows install would reset TCP back to a
working state.

So for your problem - getting more data from users is also important.
For example,
What is the spread of occurrence of the problem by OS - is is mainly
Windows ?
After which SC/SBS version and firmware versions did the problem start
becoming prevalent ? There were a number of version of 7.2.1. - I need
to check when when sync was rewritten but I think it was not not 7.3.0.
The changes affected players and server so the problem could be in the
player.
What is the spread of problem by player ? is it mainly Softsqueeze. If
it is Softsqueeze - is it mainly running on single core processors or
not ? (some of the Softsqueeze changes for 7.3 failed more often on
multicore systems)
What is the spread of the problem by service ?

As I see it Squeezecenter is a single program which uses MySQL as a
database backend, various players and browsers are its frontend. I
don't know what you consider to be the "backend" which is separate from
Squeezecenter.

I don't understand what you want me to look at that could be "very
bad".
