I think the requirement to repeat 2 or 3 times is part of the Sony
protocol specification so it makes sense that you need to use the
<count> parameter.  The other way of doing it would be to add
"min_repeat 2" into the "begin remote ... end remote" section of the
lirc file but this would then apply to all the commands.

That would require a companion SBS plugin to remote control SqueezeIR
over wifi and careful placing of the Controller.  It has been done
though by a different method (take a look at the entry dated 23 May
2009 on <http://badros.blogspot.com/>).  The combination of this and
SqueezeIR would make a powerful solution.  Another option is here

but I don't know if it's iPhone compatible.
