yes, if you can reach the NAS via WiFi this will work. You do need a
WiFi network, though. The NAS can still be wired (actually this is the
recommended setup) but the iPhone can obviously only communicate
through WiFi.

Yes. It will not directly replace the remote since the Touch remote
only controls what happens on the screen while iPeng is a full-blown
controller itself, showing you all the albums, covers, plalists etc. on
the iPhone so you don't have to look at the Touch's screen.

When did you buy it? Does it have the high-resolution display ("Retina
Display") and cameras? If yes, it's a 4G otherwise it's a 3G.
