Nope. Changing the volume on the home screen changes the ringer volume, unless you are very quick and press the volume buttons as the audio popup is still showing. Changing either the ringer or audio volume does not stop iPeng from popping the volume on switching away. The only way I have found of stopping iPeng from popping the volume on exit is to kill it.
