If I had a device for this, I would check what kind of hardware sample rates you can get from iOS (you can query that) but everything I've seen so far (it's not like that's really documented anywhere) tells me that iOS only supports up to 48 kHz. I also only see 16 bit samples. > > Perhaps there's just a little parameter to change somewhere from an > iPeng perspective. >
Definitely not. It might be just a small parameter if you use the iOS audio player, but then you lose gapless, flac, ogg, synchronization and generally you can't use the Squeezebox' streaming protocol. Especially getting the synchronization to work correctly in a multithreading environment requires you to use the Audio Unit Graph and if that involves using iOS' audio engine, that's what iPeng will always do, we are not going to implement an additional audio path for RemoteIO. I know that you can set a sample rate to use with the AU Graph but I don't know what you can set here and how easy a change it would be to detect and support external hardware. Will have to talk to James about it but given the fact that even now sync is difficult from a timing perspective when run in the background I suspect he won't be too enthusiastic. And if I have to trade battery life against support for HD DACs (because we would have to disable the power-saving background mode), I'd go for the battery life. BTW: The touch does provide bit-perfect output up to 24/96, don't know what you meant with that comment. -- pippin --- see iPeng, the Squeezebox iPhone remote, iPeng for iPad and *New: iPeng Party, the free party App*, at penguinlovesmusic.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------ pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
