Well that's what I was trying to do - to clarify what Titled Artist is!
Leaving aside classical music for the moment, muso still has only Artist
and Album Artist attributes read in from corresponding tags (there is no
Titled Artist at track level). Titled Artist is just a term used by muso
at Album level to refer to the Artist(s) common to all tracks in their
Artist and/or Album Artist attributes.

So if all tracks in the album Parallel Lines by Blondie have "Blondie"
set in the Artist attribute, then "Blondie" is the titled artist of the
album, as you'd expect.

If all tracks in the album Raising Sand have "Alison Krauss; Robert
Plant" in the Artist attribute (where ; is configured as a separator),
both Alison Krauss and Robert Plant are titled artists of the album - it
will appear under both their entries in the hierarchical view by
Artist.

If all tracks on Mark Ronson's album "Version" have "Mark Ronson" in the
Album Artist attribute then he is the titled artist of the album, even
if the Artist attributes credit the individual track contributors (Lilly
Allen, Amy Winehouse, etc).
