Thanks for the explanation. However, I fail to see that introducing a new term - propriatry to Muso - brings any added value(?). To me, it only causes confusion. The purpose of the the Album Artist field is to define what you call "Titled Artist" - if there is any. I fail to see why you need to interpret the cross sum of the Artist fields to produce Titled Artist under the assumption that the user has failed to enter a proper value in the Album Artist Field. So, you've explained to me what Titled Artist means, but you did not explain what benefit it is meant to bring. (Maybe I'm just plain stupid as I fail to see the obvious....). But why is "Various Artists" discarded as a valid Album Artist name? if I chose to use the Norwegian translation of "Various Artists" which is "Diverse Artister", would that be discareded as well?
