That could be it. The iPod Touch connects to the same APs as the iPhone.
A Devolo home plug AP in my living room and a Netgear AP in my office.
The Touch can't play Spotify content via LMS from either (stutters) but
the iPhone can. What AP/Router does your 1st Gen connect to
successfully? I have quite a bit of wireless kit lying around that I
could try or I might just take a punt on a later iPod Touch.
